What Mentorship Includes

Mentorship support may include guidance related to:

  • navigating doctoral program milestones and timelines,

  • interpreting and responding to faculty or committee feedback,

  • structuring writing, revision, and research workflows,

  • clarifying research direction and decision points,

  • managing confidence, decision fatigue, and scholarly momentum.

The mentorship emphasizes process, strategy, and independent scholarly thinking rather than the production or revision of academic content.

What Mentorship Does Not Include

To maintain appropriate academic and professional boundaries, the mentorship does not include:

  • line-by-line editing or rewriting of documents,

  • ghostwriting or co-authoring academic work,

  • APA formatting or reference correction,

  • advocacy with faculty, committees, or institutions,

  • crisis or last-minute emergency support,

  • unlimited on-demand availability outside scheduled sessions.

Faculty and committees remain the sole academic authorities for evaluation, approval, and academic judgment.

A structured engagement provides accountability, sustained progress, and professional support while maintaining appropriate academic integrity and boundaries.

How the Mentorship Works

Doctoral mentorship is offered as a structured six-month engagement designed to provide continuity, accountability, and measurable progress throughout the dissertation process. This time-bound approach allows learners to build momentum while receiving consistent guidance through key doctoral milestones.

The mentorship includes:

  • Two scheduled check-ins per month,
    45 minutes each, conducted virtually

  • Agenda-driven sessions focused on:

    • reviewing feedback and milestones,

    • clarifying decisions and next steps,

    • identifying barriers to progress,

    • setting priorities for the coming period

  • Email support between scheduled sessions,
with responses provided within 48 hours. Responses are provided on business days only.
